The Reputation Of Pakistani Diplomats Was Affected By The Cipher Issue, Asad Majeed

 Canada Global(Web News)Former Pakistani ambassador Asad Majeed, who sent a controversial letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has said that the disclosure of the secret diplomatic cable damaged the integrity of our communication system and affected the reputation of Pakistani diplomats.

According to the report, Asad Majeed, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US, said this in his written statement in the cipher case, which was recorded before the investigating officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

This statement of Asad Majeed was handed over to the lawyer of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

These two leading leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf have been named as the main accused in the FIR for revealing the cipher text under the Official Secrets Act.

During the proceedings of the special court yesterday, the prosecution handed over the copies of the challan and witness statements to the defense counsel.

It should be remembered that after the no-confidence motion was presented against Imran Khan in 2022, he accused the US of conspiring to overthrow his government by using the cipher as a base.

According to former ambassador Asad Majeed, he believes that the Cipher incident has damaged the integrity of our communication system, the reputation of our diplomats and our diplomacy, which will have negative effects on our future diplomatic reporting culture.

Dr. Asad Majeed is one of the 30 witnesses presented by the prosecution.

He said that his meeting with US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lowe was pre-arranged.

He said both sides were aware that minutes of the talks were being prepared, the details of which were sent to Islamabad through a secret coded communication system shared by Pakistan’s foreign missions and the foreign ministry.
