
The True Post (Web News) A major defense deal worth $10 billion has been signed between Turkey and Indonesia for the export of advanced fighter jets, the “Kaan.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the agreement has been signed between the two brotherly countries.
Under the agreement, Turkey will manufacture and supply 48 Kaan fighter jets to Indonesia over the next 10 years.
According to Turkish media, the agreement also includes technology transfer, under which Indonesia’s local capabilities will also be utilized in aircraft manufacturing.
It is a modern fifth-generation fighter jet developed by the state-owned Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). It completed its maiden flight in February 2024.
Initially, it is equipped with an engine similar to the F-16, but Turkey plans to equip it with a local engine in the future.
It should be noted that Turkey’s defense exports reached $7.1 billion in 2024, an increase of $1.6 billion compared to the previous year.
