The True Post(Web News)U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will launch a major operation from Monday to extract stranded commercial ships from the Strait of Hormuz, calling the initiative “Project Freedom.”
According to President Trump, the mission is being launched on humanitarian grounds to safely evacuate vessels and their crews that have been stuck in the strategic waterway. He stated that several ships are reportedly facing severe shortages of food and essential supplies, putting crew members’ lives at risk.
Trump warned that any attempt to obstruct the operation would be met with a strong response from the United States. He also said American representatives have been instructed to clearly inform relevant parties that ensuring the safe evacuation of neutral vessels and crews is a top priority.
The announcement comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, where maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been significantly disrupted. The situation has also affected global oil transportation and international trade routes.
Economists say the unrest has contributed to a sharp rise in oil prices, with U.S. gasoline prices climbing to around $4.44 per gallon, up from under $3 before the crisis. This surge has added pressure on inflation and increased public concern over living costs.
Despite a fragile ceasefire lasting several weeks, tensions remain high, with continued disputes between Iran and Western nations over maritime passage rights and shipping regulations in the region.
