Important Progress In Pak-Afghan Relations, Taliban’s First Crackdown Against Those Who Became Part Of Ttp

The True Post (Web News) The Taliban government in Afghanistan has cracked down on Afghans targeting Pakistanis for the first time, a significant development that has improved relations between Islamabad and Kabul.

Much of the focus over the past month has been on tensions between Pakistan and India, but during the same period, Islamabad and Kabul have quietly worked to mend strained ties. Pakistan first sensed a shift in Kabul’s approach when a Pakistani delegation led by Special Envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq Khan visited Kabul in the third week of March and briefed the delegation on Kabul’s steps to prevent cross-border terrorist attacks, the first time Pakistan has felt that the Taliban are serious about addressing the Pakistani government’s concerns since the Taliban took power in August 2021.
Details were not available at the time, but sources have now confirmed that the Afghan Taliban has begun a crackdown on its own citizens who had either joined the TTP or were planning to become part of the group. Sources said that many Afghans who were recruiting Afghan citizens for the TTP were jailed. Sources said that after repeated protests from Pakistan, the Afghan Taliban finally took action and took action against its own citizens, which not only led to a significant reduction in suicide attacks in KP but also paved the way for Ishaq Dar’s visit to Kabul on April 19.

It was the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister to the Afghan capital in three years. The visit brought assurances from Kabul that Afghan soil would not be used against Pakistan, and Pakistan ended the requirement for bank guarantees for Afghan importers and lifted some restrictions on Afghan trade.
The Taliban government also won Pakistan’s trust when it captured some Afghan nationals who had facilitated more than 70 terrorists who tried to infiltrate Pakistan shortly after the Pahalgam attack. “This is a positive start. We hope the Afghan Taliban will continue on this path,” said a Pakistani official, who requested anonymity.
