Abbas Araqchi Slams Trump Over Attempt To Rename Strait Of Hormuz

The True Post (Web News) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has strongly reacted to US President Donald Trump’s move to controversially call the Strait of Hormuz “Trump Strait”.

Abbas Araqchi criticized Trump in his statement on the social media platform X (Twitter), saying that distorting geographical facts is not only irresponsible but also a serious mistake. He clarified that the Strait of Hormuz is a historical and internationally recognized name that cannot be changed for any political purpose.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also shared an old video of Trump with his post, in which he himself mistakenly calls the Strait of Hormuz “Trump Strait” and later explains that it was a big mistake. Sharing this video, Araqchi sarcastically said that the facts speak for themselves.

On the other hand, Trump also shared a new map on his social media platform Truth Social, which gave an alternative name to the Strait of Hormuz, which drew further reactions from Iran. Abbas Araqchi added in his statement that the US leadership should use correct geographical names instead of self-made terms, such as the Persian Gulf, and respect internationally recognized facts. The matter once again highlights the diplomatic tension between Iran and the US, where even symbolic actions can cause major political disputes.
