The True Post(Web News)A serious privacy breach has emerged in Alberta, Canada, raising concerns about citizen safety and the integrity of the democratic process.
Edmonton city councillor Aaron Paquette revealed that his team is assisting a woman who is a victim of domestic violence after her address was allegedly leaked by a separatist group. The woman was forced to relocate with her children due to safety risks, causing significant stress and hardship.
The situation escalated after a group known as the Centurion Project reportedly published a list containing the names and addresses of nearly three million voters. Following the release, several individuals expressed concerns for their personal safety. Elections Alberta has launched an investigation to determine how this sensitive data was accessed and distributed.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also expressed serious concern, calling for swift action against those responsible and stressing the importance of protecting citizens’ rights and democratic systems.
Investigators believe the data may match a voter list previously provided to a political party last year, though it remains unclear whether the information was directly passed on or obtained through other means.
Under provincial law, voter lists are strictly limited to specific uses such as fundraising and voter communication. Public release of such data is considered a major violation.
Aaron Paquette described the incident as extremely dangerous, warning that such breaches have real-life consequences for affected individuals and must not be tolerated.
