On Alberta Day, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith paid tribute to the province’s history, traditions and the contributions of people from diverse backgrounds who have played a role in building and strengthening the province.
In her special message marking Alberta Day, Premier Danielle Smith noted that Alberta officially became a province of Canada on September 1, 1905, following the implementation of the Alberta Act.
She said Alberta Day is not only an opportunity to remember an important moment in the province’s history, but also a time to recognize the individuals, families and communities that have contributed to Alberta’s development over the past 121 years.

She said Alberta has established an important position not only within Canada but also in international markets through its industries, natural resources and productive workforce.

At the same time, she reaffirmed Alberta’s place as part of a united Canada.
