The True Post (Web News) The death toll in a horrific explosion at a chemical factory in Sanga Reddy district of the Indian state of Telangana has risen to 34.
The tragic incident took place yesterday in an industrial area when a sudden explosion occurred in a factory, resulting in the death of several people on the spot, while many injured were shifted to nearby hospitals in critical condition. According to hospital sources, several seriously injured people succumbed to their injuries during treatment, taking the total death toll to 34. Treatment of other injured is ongoing and the condition of some is still said to be critical, which is feared that the death toll may increase further.
After the accident, rescue teams reached the spot and worked to evacuate the injured and extinguish the fire. The area around the factory was affected by smoke and the smell of chemicals, due to which nearby residential areas were also temporarily evacuated. According to Indian media, an investigation has been launched to find out the causes of the explosion, however, according to initial reports, the explosion occurred due to improper handling of chemicals or lack of safety measures in the factory. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing deep sorrow over the incident, has announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
The Prime Minister said in a tweet, “Heartbroken by the accident at the chemical factory in Sanga Reddy, Telangana. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.” The state government has also ordered a full investigation into the accident and promised that legal action will be taken against the factory owners if their negligence is proven.
