The True Post (Web News) More than 200 journalists in the UK have called for a complete boycott of Israel in an open letter.
According to international media reports, the letter came after the Integrated Food Security Phase classification, which stated that a famine-like situation had arisen in Gaza. The signatories of the letter include many well-known names, including Zadie Smith, Michael Rosen, Irwin Welsh, Hanif Qureshi, Brian Eno, Elif Shafqat, George Monbiot and Jeff Dyer. The letter states that the authors call on all individuals, institutions, governments and states to immediately and completely boycott all types of trade, transactions and business with Israel until the people of Gaza are provided with adequate amounts of drinking water, food, medical assistance and other necessities of life under the supervision of the United Nations.
The signatories of the letter wrote that we are making this demand because the words and emotions of millions of people and thousands of politicians around the world have failed to bring food to the people of Gaza, protect civilians, and provide humanitarian and medical assistance. The authors regret that this boycott will also affect individuals and groups in Israel and other countries who reject the policies of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government. The signatories said that the boycott should remain in place until the United Nations verifies that the civilian population of Gaza is safe and has received adequate food and aid.
