Bc Lions Sign Star Linebacker Darnell Sankey

The True Post (Web News) The Canadian Football League (CFL) team BC Lions have signed American star linebacker Darnell Sankey to a one-year contract, the club announced.

Darnell Senki has been representing the Montreal Alouettes for the past three seasons, where he played a key role in the team’s Grey Cup win in 2023. He was selected to the East Division All-CFL team in 2024 and 2025, but the Alouettes released him on December 11. Senki was scheduled to become a free agent in February.
According to Montreal general manager Danny McCuschia, the purpose of releasing Senki early was to give him a chance to prepare for free agency in advance, while the Alouettes are looking to take a new direction at the middle linebacker position next season. In the 2025 regular season, Darnell Senki recorded 101 defensive tackles and two sacks. Montreal lost 25–17 to the Askatchewan Roughriders in the Grey Cup Final. During three seasons with Montreal, Senki totaled 239 defensive tackles, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 5 forced fumbles in 41 regular season games. He began his career with the Calgary Stampeders in 2021, where he played in all 14 regular season games and earned West Division All-CFL honors with 97 tackles.
In 2022, he had a stellar performance for the Askatchewan Roughriders, making 120 tackles, three sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles. In addition to the CFL, the 31-year-old Senki (San Jose, California) also found success in the XFL, where he won a championship with the **Arlington Renegades. The BC Lions are calling Senki’s addition a major addition to the defensive line, and he is expected to play a key role in the team’s defense next season.
