The True Post (Web News) – Pakistan’s Olympic and defending Commonwealth Games champion Arshad Nadeem has secured a place in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, keeping his hopes alive of defending the gold medal he won in Birmingham four years ago.

Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Tharanga finished first in the qualification round with a throw of 82.84 meters, the longest distance recorded despite falling short of the automatic qualifying standard.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters secured second place, while South Africa’s Douw Smit finished third heading into the final.
Neeraj Chopra Also Advances to the Final
India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra also booked his place in the final after registering a best throw of 79.61 meters, finishing fifth overall.
The qualification results set up another highly anticipated showdown between Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra, whose rivalry has become one of the biggest attractions in international athletics.

Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan narrowly missed qualification after throwing 74.36 meters, finishing 14th overall.
