However, reports emphasize that even if an agreement is reached, it will not result in the immediate reopening of the strategically vital waterway.
Iran and Oman Continue Maritime Talks
According to international media reports citing Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, discussions between Tehran and Muscat are focused on establishing a future framework for maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian officials reportedly stressed that the negotiations are strictly bilateral and have no involvement from the United States.
Talks Focus on Maritime Management
The report suggests that the proposed agreement could establish a new administrative framework for commercial shipping and potentially introduce a new maritime corridor in the region.
Iranian sources said the discussions are aimed at developing a practical mechanism for future navigation but should not be interpreted as a decision to immediately reopen or permanently close the Strait of Hormuz.
