Date: October 3, 2026 The True Post (Web News) — CALGARY: The United Conservative Party (UCP) has renominated incumbent Calgary-North MLA and Associate Minister of Multiculturalism Muhammad Yaseen as its candidate for the upcoming Alberta provincial election.
Muhammad Yaseen currently represents Calgary-North in the Alberta Legislative Assembly and serves as Associate Minister of Multiculturalism. According to the Alberta government, he was appointed to the position on May 16, 2025.
Running for a Third Consecutive Election in Calgary-North
Muhammad Yaseen was first elected to the Alberta Legislative Assembly from Calgary-North on April 16, 2019. He subsequently won re-election from the same constituency in the provincial election held on May 29, 2023. Official legislative records also identify him as the current MLA for Calgary-North.
Following his latest nomination by the UCP, Yaseen will once again represent the party in Calgary-North in the upcoming provincial election. Current election candidate listings also identify Muhammad Yaseen as the UCP candidate for the constituency.
Engineering and Energy Sector Experience
Muhammad Yaseen has a professional background in engineering. According to the Alberta government, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming, a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix.
He is a professional engineer and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Before entering politics, he worked in Alberta’s energy sector for many years.
Community Involvement and Volunteer Service
Muhammad Yaseen has long been involved with various communities and volunteer initiatives in Calgary. According to government and party profiles, he volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross and the Pakistan Canada Association for several years.
He has also volunteered with several organizations, including Junior Achievement, United Way, The Mustard Seed, MOSAIC Volunteers and the Calgary Food Bank.
Responsibilities in Multiculturalism
Muhammad Yaseen was appointed Associate Minister of Multiculturalism in May 2025. His responsibilities include engaging with Alberta’s diverse cultural and ethnic communities, addressing multiculturalism-related matters, and contributing to government initiatives concerning newcomers.
The Alberta government’s current website lists him as Associate Minister of Multiculturalism under the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Status of Women.
