US President Donald Trump has described ongoing negotiations with Iran as being at a positive stage but warned that Tehran must reach an agreement or Washington could take action to bring the matter to a swift conclusion.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said discussions between the two countries were progressing. However, he expressed reservations about trusting Iran’s leadership, referring to what he described as previous instances in which Iranian officials had reached agreements and later backed away from their commitments.
Trump said the United States wanted to resolve the dispute through negotiations and that he hoped further loss of life could be avoided. However, he cautioned that diplomatic efforts could not continue indefinitely.
He warned that if Iran failed to accept an agreement considered acceptable to Washington, the United States might eventually have to take tougher measures.
The president made clear that his administration did not intend to allow the issue to remain unresolved through prolonged negotiations and said Iran would have to make a decision about reaching a deal.
Trump Says He Wants to Save Lives but Warns of Possible Military Action
Trump said he was trying to save lives and did not want the situation to deteriorate further.
However, he warned that if negotiations failed to produce the desired outcome, the United States could be forced to make difficult decisions.
His remarks reflected Washington’s stated preference for a negotiated solution while maintaining pressure on Tehran through the possibility of further action.
According to Trump, Iran now needed to make progress towards an agreement, as the United States was not willing to prolong the situation indefinitely.
Trump Discusses Iran With Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
During his remarks, Trump also referred to a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing their discussion as positive.
The US president confirmed that Iran was among the issues discussed during the conversation.
He did not provide further details about the exchange or specify what particular points the two leaders had discussed.
The reference to Netanyahu’s conversation with Trump comes as international attention remains focused on relations between Washington and Tehran and the possibility of a diplomatic agreement.
Trump reiterated that the United States was pursuing negotiations with Iran but said the option of tougher measures remained available if an agreement could not be reached.
The coming days are expected to be important in determining whether diplomatic efforts produce progress or tensions between the two countries escalate further.
