The Housing Crisis In Britain Has Intensified.

The True Post(Web News) The housing crisis in England is growing on a massive scale, with more than 3.2 million children in England potentially forced to live in short-term temporary accommodation by the end of the current parliament.

Analysis by housing charity Shelter claims the cost to taxpayers is expected to reach around £3.9 billion as the number of children in temporary accommodation increases by around 26%. The figures provided in the analysis show that by 2029 around 260,000 children will be in temporary accommodation, with the number set to rise sharply over the next five years.
English councils are paying an average of 60% more rent for safe places in emergency accommodation, with a large number expected to have to stay in temporary accommodation for many years. Mary McRae, policy director at Shelter, said it was “deeply sad and shameful” that thousands of children in England alone were growing up in unsafe and temporary accommodation.
