
The True Post (Web News) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Staff, has completed a short but very important and fruitful official visit to Iran.
During the visit, he held high-level meetings with the Iranian leadership. The visit came at a time when diplomatic efforts are being intensified to reduce the ongoing tension in the region and advance the negotiation process after the ceasefire of April 8, 2026. The main objective of the Field Marshal’s visit was to make the ongoing mediation process more effective for peace, stability, and positive diplomatic progress in the region. During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held important meetings with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Peshkeshian, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. In these meetings, detailed discussions were held on the regional situation, ongoing tensions, diplomatic contacts, and the possibilities of reaching a final reconciliation framework.
According to sources, the focus of the talks was on establishing peace and stability in the region, reducing tensions and accelerating the ongoing consultation process, while the continuous diplomatic activities during the last 24 hours have also resulted in encouraging progress. The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s sincere and constructive role in promoting dialogue, peace and positive diplomatic contacts in the region and called Islamabad’s efforts in the mediation process important. Upon Field Marshal Asim Munir’s arrival in Tehran, he was welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandhar Momeni and other senior civil and military officials, while the visit is being described as a very important development in the context of ongoing diplomatic activities in the region.
