The True Post (Web News)US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff has claimed that a comprehensive peace agreement is on the way between the US and Iran, but he made it clear that Iran will not be allowed to enrich uranium in the future.
In an interview with American media, Steve Witkoff said that the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities had only one purpose, and that was to prevent Iran from being able to enrich nuclear weapons.
He said: “We want peace with Iran, but any agreement that gives Iran the authority to enrich uranium will not be acceptable.”
The US envoy made it clear that Iran would not be allowed to enrich uranium in any future agreement. He said that the US wants Iran to be unable to return to the path of nuclear weapons.
This statement came three days after US President Donald Trump announced that US warplanes had successfully targeted the nuclear facilities of Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, completely destroying Iran’s uranium enrichment capacity.
It should be noted that after 12 days of tension between Iran and Israel, President Trump announced a bilateral ceasefire on Tuesday. However, the US president has also expressed strong displeasure over alleged violations by both sides.
