The video shows Prabhas’s character fighting against an enemy army.
A Diplomatic Message
The video, shared by the Iranian Consulate in Hyderabad, appeared after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23.
The post also included a message attributed to President Pezeshkian, stating that Iran “will not bow its head or kneel.”
The Famous Baahubali Scene
The scene selected by the Iranian consulate is among the well-known action sequences in SS Rajamouli’s 2015 film Baahubali: The Beginning.
In the scene, Prabhas’s character is shown leading his army in battle against the Kalakeya forces. The Iranian consulate shared the sequence on social media, linking it to its diplomatic message.
Connection with Telugu Cinema
Interestingly, this is not the first time an Iranian diplomatic mission has used a Telugu film in an online message.
On September 23, the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe shared a 58-second action clip from Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 2023 film Bhagavanth Kesari on social media.
The post appeared after US President Donald Trump made remarks about Iran at the United Nations. Through the clip, the Iranian embassy sought to convey the message that Iran was not defenceless.
An Interesting Mistake About the Film’s Origin
The Iranian embassy’s post also contained an interesting error. It referred to Bhagavanth Kesari as a Bollywood film, although the movie was actually made in the Telugu language.
Indian social media users pointed out the discrepancy. Following this, the Iranian diplomatic mission in Hyderabad also reshared the Balakrishna clip and praised Telugu cinema, writing, “Telugu movies are GOAT.”
Now It Is Baahubali’s Turn
Just a few days later, the Iranian consulate’s latest post replaced Nandamuri Balakrishna with actor Prabhas and the film Baahubali.
The new post features a well-known battle scene from the movie alongside Iran’s diplomatic message, attracting attention from social media users.
