The True Post (Web News) Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared in clear and unequivocal terms that Iran will not bow to American pressure or demands under any circumstances.
Addressing a religious gathering in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the United States is trying to subdue Iran, but Iran will stand firm on its position. The Supreme Leader categorically rejected the proposal for direct talks with the United States, saying that talks cannot be held under the shadow of threats. He said that those who talk about forcing us into direct talks are ignorant of the truth.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the enemies are mistaken in understanding that the relationship between the Iranian people and the government is weak. He said that when military attacks failed, the enemies realized that Iran could not be defeated through war, nor could the Islamic system be subdued. This latest statement by the Supreme Leader came at a time when Iran and European leaders agreed on Friday to resume formal negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program. It should be noted that Iran suspended nuclear talks with Washington after the US and Israel bombed Tehran’s nuclear facilities during the 12-day war in June.
